News Organizations Blocked from White House Briefing

24 Feb 2017

White House Press Secretary Sean Spencer denied several major news organizations entry into the White House’s press briefing Friday. This block came hours after President Trump spoke out against the media in a speech. The White House released a stated that “everyone was represented” within the organizations that were invited. The blocked organizations included The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, CNN and Politico. When Spencer was asked if this block was a show of favoritism, he stated, “We’ve actually gone above and beyond with making ourselves, our team, and our briefing room more accessible than probably any prior administration. And so I think you can take that to the bank.” CNN’s Jake Tapper blasted the White House stating, “They’re taking the next step in attempting to avoid checks and balances and accountability.”
